Working at RedBull Hardline Sept 2022

After two years of running House of Wingz at Liar Liar Oswestry, we set up at Red Bull Hardline last Saturday for two days of chicken wings, halloumi sticks, breakfast muffins and downhill mountain bike racing in Machynlleth Wales.

House of Wingz has been a learning journey from the outset: when I first started I had no idea about food, but the people who got involved helped to grow it. Now we’re moving on to a new challenge in event catering, starting at Dinas Mawddwy on the 10th September.

Red Bull Hardline is the hardest downhill mountain biking track in the world, with 90 ft jumps, road gaps and gnarly technical sections. We were stationed with crowds of spectators at the finish, where the riders crossed under the Red Bull arch. Our breakfast muffins were the most popular in the morning, with halloumi sticks and BBQ Jerk chicken wings selling out just before the event finished. We had great feedback from the riders to the spectators, and have already confirmed our spot for 2023.

This collaboration with Red Bull has been our biggest yet, and the organisation of the event was next level. Every section you walked into there was a point of contact from the Red Bull team.

Our main takeaways from this first event have been: take more supplies (selling out at the event was great, but we could have made more food however very pleased!) and think about developing a vegan option, but for now we are happy with the menu as a base going forward.

Congratulations to Jackson Goldstone for his win - first time down the track at 18 years old is pretty incredible. And thank you to Red Bull for having us, we’ll see you next year. Next stop: Lake Vyrnwy with Adernaline Sporting Events.

A prize is given to the first person to privately message us on one of our social media platforms with the word REDBULL in CAPITALS.
